Self-Discipline
In this context, self-discipline should not be understood as self-imposed coercion or the type of motivational speeches, urging individuals to push through regardless of the situation. Such an approach can, in my experience, be reckless and counterproductive. As mentioned earlier, certain considerations are vital when adopting the Stress Survivors mindset. One of these is recognizing that solely aiming to build resilience to suppress or overcome challenging emotions may inadvertently set a trap for oneself. I learned this firsthand as I started feeling anxiety while attempting to find solace. Recklessly pursuing strength masked my vulnerabilities, which contradicts the essence of self-discipline. Furthermore, forcing oneself recklessly can lead to adopting harmful coping strategies, experiencing abnormal social interactions, and distorting one's perception.
The self-discipline I'm referring to involves an intelligent approach. It calls for consistency, patience, responsibility, compassion, and a significant portion of self-knowledge, which can be attained through developing self-monitoring and emotional intelligence. Self-discipline is not a reckless brutal act even if it gives discomfort in cases.
